The following is a notarized statement (made in 1942) found by a cousin in the Kate Love Simpson Library in McConnelsville OH:

Jan. 3, 1942, I, John E. Wilson, of Malta township, Morgan County, Ohio, was born on the 11th of May, 1865, on a farm south of Roxbury, Ohio. My parents were Stephen Wilson and his secoond wife, Mary Ann Quigley. They are buried at Oakland cemetery. Their children were Isabelle Tompkins, Josephine McCoy, Alpharitta Fleming, Harriett Moody, John E. Wilson and Henrietta Rowland.

Stephen Wilson's first wife was Amy Sells. Their children were Mary Riley, Daniel Wilson, Martha Sheets, Henry Wilson, Anne Beswick and Amy McCoy.

Mary Ann Quigley was the daughter of James Quigley and his wife, Susannah Wilson of Waterford, Washington county, Ohio. After his death, his wife removed to Brokaw, Morgan county. She is buried at Stockport, Ohio. Their children were Henry, John, James, Lucretia Cargille, Nancy Gilpin, Alvira Johnson and Mary Ann Wilson.

Stephen Wilson was the son of William and Rebecca Wilson. William lived west of Watertown, Washington County, Ohio, at a place where the road from Watertown to Oakland church crosses Flat Run. He and his neighbor, John Sanders, were veterans of the War of 1812. After the death of his wife, William married Mrs. Lavinia Thompson and removed to Windsor township, Morgan County. No issue of the marriage. William and Rebecca Wilson are buried in a cemetery on a hill on the left hand side of the road leading from Watertown to Brokaw. Robert, Elijah, Orson and Stephen Wilson were sons of William and Rebecca Wilson.
