The following is information concerning the
family of Jesse and Jessie White Phillis that I
hope will be of interest and help to relatives and
friends in later years.
Charles Phillis (1853—1936) was the oldest
son of Thomas Phillis. He married Amy
Haines (1859—1929) and they were the parents
of 3 children: Thomas W. (1878—1962), Jesse (1881—1963), and Minnie Dell (1884—1938).
Charles, Amy and Minnie are buried in the Phillis
Cemetery.
This picture was taken at a Phillis family reunion near
Morgan County Ohio around 1894.
On the far right of this picture stands Charles and Amy Phillis with their three children. Charles and Amy's daughter was handicapped all her life, if you look closely, you will see that Charles is holding her up for the picture.

By Faunna Phillis Combs: The following is information concerning the
family of Jesse and Jessie White Phillis that I
hope will be of interest and help to relatives and
friends in later years. Thomas Phillis, born in 1830, married Martha
Magers and had 9 children. They resided on a
large farm in Center Township near the Olive
Green Creek. Thomas was married twice but he
and Martha were buried in the Phillis Cemetery which is located on the farm where they lived. Charles Phillis (1853—1936) was the oldest
son of Thomas Phillis. He married Amy
Haines (1859—1929) and they were the parents
of 3 children: Thomas W. (1878—1962), Jesse
(1881—1963), and Minnie Dell (1884—1938).
Charles, Amy and Minnie are buried in the Phillis
Cemetery.
Jesse Phillis married Jessie L. White
(1883—1954), daughter of John L. White and Josephine
Corp.
Jesse Phillis inherited part of the Phillis
farm from his grandfather and lived there for many
years before selling it to Clair Phillis, who later
sold the farm to the Ohio Power Co. Jesse and
Jessie moved to Manchester Twp. Then where
they resided until Jessie Passed away. Jesse
spend the last few years with his children. He and
Jessie where buried in Smith Chapel Cemetery.
The were parents of five children: Beulah
(1908—1927) buried in Phillis Cemetery, Clair (b.
1910), Edith (b. 1912), Faunna (b. 1917), Clarence
(b. 1919).

Phillis Cemetery (Morgan County, Ohio)
NOTE: Minnie was Handicap all her life. My grandmother remembered helping to care for her when she was a small child. She said she sat in a rocker all day and that she needed help to eat, or get up. She said she never talked, only hummed at times.
