Thomas Phillis, born in 1830, married Martha Magers and had 9 children. They resided on a large farm in Center Township near the Olive Green Creek. Thomas was married twice but he and Martha were buried in the Phillis Cemetery which is located on the farm where they lived.

Charles Phillis (1853—1936) was the oldest son of Thomas Phillis. He married Amy Haines (1859—1929) and they were the parents of 3 children: Thomas W. (1878—1962), Jesse (1881—1963), and Minnie Dell (1884—1938).
