COAL RUN - Thomas William Phillis of Coal Run died at 1:25 pm Saturday following an illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1878 in Morgan County, he was a son of the late Charles and Amy Haines Phillis. He lived all his life in Morgan County where he farmed. He was married to Vivian Stringer Nov. 28, 1899. Mr. Phillis was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church.

His wife survives with one son and four daughters. Clyde Phillis of Coal Run, Mrs. Ethel Francis of Beverly, Mrs. Edna Clark of Oak Hill and Mrs. Winifred Slater and Mrs Ester Garvin both of Caldwell. There are ?? grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren, one brother also survives, Jesse Phillis of McConnelsville.

One son, Willard Phillis, was a casualty of World War II, and one daughter Marjorie is also deceased.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 pm at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly with the Rev. Roland Wells in charge, Burial will be in the Beverly cemetery.
