The Ill Archives: list a land transaction for Elijah Stoneking on 19 May 1837. He purchased eighty acres in Schuyler Co. IL. He bought the land from the public domain and paid $1.25 per acre for it.
The Gin Ridge Clans, Being a Comprehensive genealogy and History of the Frakes, Stoneking, Willey, Mason, Clark, Hendrickson, Womack, and Allied Families who were Pioneers in Southwestern McDonough County and Northwestern Schuyler County, IL; by Arthur Kent Hall: Elijah Stoneking was born about 1798 in Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. He died September 27, 1878 in Schuyler County, IL. He was first married in Pennsylvania, but his wife's name is not kknown. He married second to Sarah Cox on April 5, 1840 in Schuyler County, IL. Sarah was born about 1813 and died in 1858. She was the daughter of Jarrett H. Sr. and Katrina Cox. Elijah married for a third time to Mrs. Martha Fagle (Fogle) not long after the 1860 census. Elijah Stoneking and his family have been found in the censuses from 1830-1870.
